Nicole Danforth, MD
Dr. Nicole Danforth is a Staff Psychiatrist for the Addictions Recovery Management Service (ARMS) and Medical Director of the Performance and Character Enhancement in Sport (PACES) programs at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is also an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Her clinical work is focused on the assessment, education and treatment of young athletes and college students with mental health issues, including substance misuse, ADHD, recovery from injury and eating disorders. Dr. Danforth’s current research interests include healthy character development in sports, constuctive parenting, and the risk of early sport specialization. She has drawn on this expertise to publish two textbook chapters on healthy child development and offer Internet-based lectures on healthy parenting for children with neurological illnesses.
Dr. Danforth received her MD from Dartmouth Medical School, completed her psychiatric residency at the Cambridge Health Alliance and completed her child and adolescent psychiatric fellowship at the MGH/McLean program.
